Sarah Harrison

I’m Sarah Harrison, a user experience designer from Seattle, WA. I am passionate about designing meaningful interfaces people love to use. I also love laughing, good music, bad movies, dogs, and I occasionally dabble in photography, cooking, dancing, and illustration.

Services:
Graphical Interface Design
Information Architecture
Interaction Design
Branding

About me:
I have worked in many areas of design, and now focus on designing digital interfaces, particularly for the Web. I can use my experience with branding to quickly create or adapt a design to specific brand standards. I can also draw on my training in photography and composition when needed, and I have a knack for working with color. I have strong attention to details like spelling and punctuation, and am trained in using traditional typographic principles and design practices like grid-based layout to create professional, high-quality interfaces.

Professional experience:
Over six years graphic design and visual design experience
Over six years user-centered web design experience, including experience with designing for sites using video, Flash, DHTML, CSS, AJAX, CMS systems and templates, etc.
Over two years experience in Information Architecture and Interaction Design

About this blog:
I jokingly thought to title this blog “things that confuse me” as a companion to my personal nonsense tumblr blog, “things that amuse me.” Though I don’t mean to imply that everything I evaluate here will confuse me, the name is sticking around for the time being.

My intention with this blog is to collect my thoughts, ideas, and opinions on specific examples of user experiences, both good and bad. I love the blog format for this, as it allows me to jot examples down as I come to them, and invites reader feedback and conversations. Feel free to jump in.

This blog is moving

I haven't stopped blogging, I've just stopped posting updates here, for mostly technical reasons. Continue reading
